And on the first day…

I’m a bit in shock myself, but yes, I’m starting my own blog. The main reason is to create a home to start documenting ALL my pursuits, not just my CTC VISTA work. In the process of finding just the right samples for the Portfolio section, I stumbled across a video Colin Rhinesmith posted on ACMEBoston.org. While presenting at a blogging workshop in July 2006 with the Boston Neighborhood Producers’ Group Inc., I told my [now] tired old joke:

Before last fall, I had never even heard of a blog…let alone write for one. In fact, I was calling it a blob.

Up in green smoke - Andreas Reinhold (Flickr)That joke gets laughs every time, especially with the non-techie folks. But it still rings true a bit. I do feel like this loose conglomeration of thoughts, images and video is like a big squishy mass that I’m trying to shape into something interesting. Hopefully, it won’t get all dry like the purple clay in an old Cranium game, but instead be a place for me to keep documenting my journey into media through writing, images and video.

Wondering about the “verde smoke” thing? Like a true blogger (heehee I’m a blogger), I’m going to quote another blogger:

Serach is currently watching the new version of the “Ten Commandments”…For years, growing up, my family used to love watching the Ten Commandments. It was an annual comedy show…Who didn’t enjoy watching the green [verde] smoke cause people to grab their own necks and choke themselves? And you had to love that “hail” – that was just incredible special effects.

And because the internet is quickly filling up with useless banter such as this blog, greensmoke.com was too boring. I guess I see my unending amusement with the green smoke that avoids Charlton Heston’s door as a reminder to never take media too seriously.

Wish me luck, web friends!

Special thanks to Ben Sheldon, who’s hosting me and making it all look nice and work in the backend.
